Women’s Health and Equal Rights (WHER) Initiative is a non-profit organization committed to the protection of rights and promotion of the well-being of lesbian, bisexual, queer women, and gender non-conforming people in Nigeria. Essential Criteria for All Roles:
- Demonstrable knowledge of the LGBTIQ community and related issues in Nigeria.

- Understanding of social justice, human rights, and intersectionality.

- Senior Programs Officer
Location: Abuja
Reports to: Head of Programs & Learning
Salary Range: NGN 800,000 – 900,000 Gross monthly
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of program activities to advance WHER’s mission.
- Develop work plans, budgets, and activity schedules for projects.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and beneficiaries, with a focus on LGBTIQ-related work.
- Provide strategic guidance to the program team to align with organizational goals.
- Draft high-quality program reports and proposals for donors and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, development studies, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of issues affecting the LGBTIQ community and a commitment to promoting equality and inclusion.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Officer
Location: Abuja
Reports to: Head of Programs & Learning
Salary Range: NGN 500,000 – 600,000 Gross monthly
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for programs, particularly those impacting the LGBTIQ community.
- Collect, analyze, and report data to measure program effectiveness and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors and stakeholders, reflecting WHER’s commitment to transparency.
- Facilitate learning and adaptive management processes within the organization.
- Conduct research and assessments to inform program design and strategy, ensuring inclusivity and relevance to the community.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in statistics, social sciences, public health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in M&E, research, or learning roles.
- Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in M&E tools (e.g., SPSS, Power BI).
- Proven understanding of LGBTIQ issues and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Human Resources and Admin Manager
Location: Abuja
Reports to: Head of Programs & Learning
Salary Range: NGN 500,000 – 600,000 Gross monthly
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes, prioritizing diversity and inclusivity.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that uphold WHER’s values of equality and non-discrimination.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
- Manage administrative functions, including office operations and logistics, to support a safe and inclusive work environment.
- Maintain accurate records for HR and administrative functions and ensure confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and administration roles.
- Knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices in Nigeria.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
